The HBCU Week x Michael S. Purzycki Changemaker Scholarship 2027 is a prestigious opportunity designed to support outstanding first-year students from Delaware who are committed to attending a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
Administered by the HBCU Week Foundation, this scholarship empowers high-achieving Delaware residents as they begin their undergraduate journey. It reflects the foundation’s core mission of increasing enrollment at HBCUs, easing financial barriers, and building strong pathways from higher education to successful careers.
Scholarship Benefits
The selected scholar will receive:
- A $10,000 one-time award to support educational expenses
- Financial relief during their critical first year at an HBCU
- Official recognition as an HBCU Week Changemaker Scholar

- Bachelor’s Degree (Incoming Freshman Year)
Eligible Fields
Open to students pursuing any undergraduate major at an accredited HBCU.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a current resident of Delaware
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- Be entering college as an incoming freshman
- Have received official acceptance into a Historically Black College or University (HBCU)
Required Documents
- Completed scholarship application form
- Official or verifiable high school transcript
- Proof of acceptance from an accredited HBCU
